BUYING A MEMORY CARD FOR YOUR MOBILE PHONE MICRO MINI

When buying memory cards from an ebay seller or business, check or ask if the memory card comes in SEALED packaging. Unfortunately there are lots of fakes in the markets. They come in the form of re-manufactured, damaged and even lower capacity cards with stickers indicating higher capacities. For example: 64MB memory card with a 2GB sticker on. Also possibly damaging the mobile phone or memory loss. Many memory cards sell below the cost of manufacturers. You are likely to receive any envelope with a loose memory card in!All cards should really come in sealed packaging as the manufacturers want to grow their brand name through the use of packaging, hence manufacturers will rarely sell without the packaging. Therefore there is no excuse to not sell in sealed packaging.FIDELIS CORP Shop To reduce the amount of fakes in the markets SANDISK

N95 8GB SCAM

This is my first guide so here goes,
I just read the guide posted by 187madden, which was in some ways helpful but does not explain everything to watch out for. So I decided to add to this guide, but as I cannot just simply add to his/her guide Im making this one in hope that ebayers can avoid such scams.
orig guide; "N95 8GB SCAM ALERT"
Remember as ebayer's you need to make sure you read all of the listing, here are a few things to watch for;
First thing as mentioned is to look out for the standard old N95 with a 8GB memory card being listed as "N95 8GB", the newer N95 8GB DOES NOT have a memory card slot so there is no way the memory can be expanded, something the soon to be released N96 has solved.
There is a few things to watch out for, so I will try to keep it to the point and state as many as possible.
First off the listing title, if you read anything showing N95 8GB with extra memory card (ie 1GB) then this again is the older N95.
With some new N95 8GB's they come with the spiderman movie preinstalled which CANNOT be moved, so if there is anything like the movie on a seperate memory card, again that is another scam!
The newer N95 8GB is all black, but some sellers have simply listed the older N95 with a black housing/case. Making it look like the newer N95 8GB. Here again if the memory is on a memory card and not internal then this is another scam. There are also 2 other MAJOR points to look out for
1- The newer N95 8GB uses a newer "BL-6F" battery, so check the pictures to see if you can spot the battery, if not then ask for a "real picture" of the handset and battery is listed or sent to you. The old N95 uses the "BL-5F" battery, which does not last as long or use the same technology as the newer model. These batteries CANNOT be switched around, meaning you cannot use the standard N95 battery in the newer N95 8GB phone!
2- The newer N95 8GB has no cover for the back camera, it looks like a lens and flash as one. The older standard N95 has a lense cover. So again look out for this in the pictures listed, if you cant see this in the pictures ask for "real pictures" to be listed or sent to you via email.
I wouldnt recommend buying from outside UK, or handsets imported from other countries which are like or fake N95 8GB's. Most of these imported handsets do not have all the features of the N95 8GB, like the built in GPS and 3G/HSDPA(or also known as 3.5G). Some of them dont even support the networks in the UK!
These are the most obvious points to look out for, besides from them I would recommend you read the features/tech spec differences.

3 Network - Mobile phones.

Do you ever look at the phones on ebay, that say unlocked to all networks except 3? And wonder why that phone you want to buy, says "not on the 3 network".
Well, when a seller states that a phone is unlocked to all networks, it is actually unlocked to the 3 network as well. Your sim card would work for a few days, but then you will get a warning from 3 and if you ignore that, then they will disconnect you. So it is not the unlocking of the phone, it is the fact that 3 will not let you use the phone.
Why? Well, here is the simple non technical version. There are three types of phone, 1G, which was the big clumpy analogue sets of the Nineties. Then we went digital and they were 2G and now we're moving to 3G. For simplicity (but not technically accurate) think video mobile phones. Now there are still a lot more 2G phones out there than there are 3G.
The "3" network only operates on the 3G (think video phone) system, but the coverage is

A basic guide to buying pay as you go Sim Cards on eBay

Buying sim cards on eBay is brilliant, because you can save money, and usually get deals you wouldn't find elsewhere. In this guide I plan to give you some basic tips on finding the cheapest sim card out there.Step 1: Your network - You need to decide what network you wish to be on (e.g, o2) and what tarriff (e.g, o2 online) - Enter this in the basic search box at the top of every eBay page.Step 2: Postage - Many sim cards are available for pennies on eBay, but if you don't note the postage costs you could end up paying steep postage fees on top of those pennies. A standard o2 sim card can be posted for 46p, plus a few pence for the packaging and time, say 60p-80p is a fair amount to pay. To avoid checking every listing, simply click "Customize my Search Results" and make the "Postage" columm appear alongside the actual price, that way when browsing results you can see the postage costs aswell.Step 3: Buy-it-now? - Bidding on sims is easy enough, it's just like any other item, but if you really want to see the quick deals, click "Show buy-it-now items only" on the left. Then, you can choose to sort from low to high priced items. This way your seeing the cheapest items that can be bought literally within the next few seconds (no waiting for auctions to end)

IPHONE 2 COMING SOON!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Everyone who is gadget aware will know that the Apple iphone was a huge success but there were a few features that stopped it being the ultimate phone and some even claim that there are other phones that are a lot better such as the Nokia N95.
There are lots of rumours about the launch of the Apple Iphone 2 coming in June 2008. So i am writing this review to warn any buyers who are unaware of this and splash out for either a locked on from o2 or buy an unlocked on on ebay maybe just to wait a few weeks even if you are not interested in buying the iphone 2 or second generation iphone, simply because the price will fall as soon as there is solid evidence to suggest its imminent release.
The new iphone has been suggested to have:
3G
Better Camera
Bluetooth that links with other non apple based devices
At first these will most likely be locked into o2 again but rest assured the hackers will win and will unlock it within a few weeks of its release :-)
Please mark this as helpful ;-)
Thanks

There are in Ebay many sellers from China who sell very expensive mobile phones at very low prices. They usually have a 100% feedback from 10 sellers. If you go to read their feedback you will find that the sellers who left them a positive feedback have a "0" feedback. How can this happen?

Postal orders - think before you send them.

If you are considering making a high value purchase from an eBay seller, please bear in mind that postal orders are not covered by any of the payment protection policies on the site. One common misconception amongst buyers is that crossed postal orders need to be paid into a bank account - they don't, there are numerous ways for fraudulent sellers to spend them regardless of their status. What this means in real terms is that if you choose to pay by postal order and something goes wrong, eBay will not help you to recover your money, nor will they offer any reimbursement whatsoever. There are a lot of good sellers who accept postal orders but it is vital that you understand that the postal order is also one of

Is PAYPAL the best option for Sellers?

In my experience as a seller as well as a buyer I've not been always so happy with paypal. As I am seller more than a buyer so I'll only describe the OPEN HOLES in paypal's system which can leave sellers out of pocket and buyers with both, the item and their money.

Paypal Buyer Protection Fraud

Hi,
This guide is specifically for UK buyers and those who use Paypal thinking that the buyer protection scheme is really what it says on the tin. I am afraid I am going to have to ruin this fallacy. Buyer protection is not what it's cracked up to be!
I have been a member of ebay for over 5 years and have had a paypal account almost as long. I use Paypal quite often because of the convenience and for high value items because of it's buyer protection promise. Recently I ordered a very expensive pair of sunglasses from a seller in the US, I paid by Paypal assuming I would be protected if they did not arrive.
I duly received a box with an empty sunglass case, when I contacted the seller he claimed it must have been stolen in the post ( he didn't send it insured even though I paid quite a bit for postage) apparently he claimed the US poatal service did not offer an insured international postage service !
I contacted Paypal and raised a dispute - gave them all the information. They investigated and then emailed back to say they need a police report of the incident within 10 days otherwise case would be closed. Well I spent 2 hours at the Police station and got a crime reference number. I faxed this to paypal. They emailed back saying they need a police report with details of the crime and the investigating officer.
Despite a number of emails and calls pointing out that the Police force in England don't provide police reports only crime reference numbers, they kept asking for a police report. I even sent the letter from the police force they send to victims of crime - still not good enough. So although I called a number of times they closed the case because I could not provide a report. When I called them again they finally said they needed a headed letter from the investigating officer explaining that I had reported a crime and the particulars of that crime.
Now I dont know which planet Paypal are from (they are based in Ireland) but how reasonable is it to expect the police to write a letter specifically for you about a crime that they have no intention of investigating because they have more important things to do like catch murderers and terrorists!!!
So if you are thinking of using Paypal remember that buyer protection is not all it's cracked up to be. If the seller sends an empty box, Paypal will expect a specially written letter from the police before they will consider protecting you. I spoke to my local Police station and they laughed in my face when I asked them about a letter!!!
Paypal wont budge on this issue, they wont accept a crime refernce number even though everyone else accepts this in the UK. They claim they will only reconsider this policy if everyone in the UK complains, so even though it's too late for me, I would urge you to email Paypal with a strongly worded complaint about this policy as it is completely stupid and discriminatory to UK ebayers.I would also suggest that if you use paypal ensure that you pay for everything through a credit card, when Paypal refuse to protect you make sure you call your credit card company to issue a chargeback against paypal. You should get your money back.

New Ebay Sellers? ( negative feedback )

Are you a new seller looking to keep your 100% positive feedback? So sorry but here is your wake up call...

Please be aware that some of the people you will be selling to are very unbalanced.

One buyer bid on an item and bought it, paid for it, told ebay I never sent it, got his refund, left very nasty feedback and two weeks later it was delivered to me with a big red sticker from the sorting office that said .. UNCOLLECTED...this type of person bought something just so that he could leave me the nasty feedback saying I was a LIar, Thief and Con Artist..and even with my photographs and proof... ebay could do nothing to stop or remove this kind of feedback!

Anouther buyer bought five of the same item from me, three arrived in America fine the other two arrived damaged, all were packed the same so I must have been doing something right but still this buyer left nasty feedback and could not understand that as soon as its in the postal service it is out of my control.

A buyer left negative feedback because the OUTER cardboard box that I had packed her item in had one corner dented! ( although the inside contents were undamaged!)

Then we have the person who bought an item with no intentions of paying by the accepted methods, he then said he would leave negative feedback if I didn't accept his cheque.

Two weeks later..

he posted me his cheque and then cancelled it before it got to me, sent an email to ebay to say that he felt sure that I had sold his item to a higher bidder I had to email him a photograph of it next to a recent daily newspaper, he then said he would send me the cash in a registered envelope but sent me a postal order in a registered envelope... which ended up costing him
more money.

and now a word about ...CHARGEBACK.

Please do not forget that a buyer can have your item for several months and then decide for WHATEVER reason , that they no longer want it.

If they have paid you by credit card they can get what is called a chargeback from the credit company that they paid with, paypal can freeze your account for as long as they like while you cobble together all the reasons why this refund is unacceptable including any mutal emails between you and your buyer and photographic evidence regarding your original listing...in my case NOTHING helped at all. This is a very dishonest way to play the system and my buyer won!

Regards,

Sandy.

P.S Feedback is your way of telling others about your buyers so please do not be afraid to leave your own negative feedback. I have decided to actually include my buyers full name thus name and shame them for all to see.
Please be aware that the cost of selling via paypal has increased considerably since we all first started selling years ago, check all your outgoings against your incomings.
